Fitness TV Leaps Into Acquisition Mode at MIPTV
Cannes - 31 March 2009 - FITNESS TV, the UK's first dedicated health and fitness channel, is in Cannes this week at MIPTV 2009 to acquire compelling content that will deliver energy and inspiration to its roster of programming.
Fitness TV is the feelgood channel, and aims to inspire its viewers with a whole range of compelling, fun, and motivational programmes for everyone from tots, teens, mothers and hardcore gym-goers to those less mobile. Launching on Sky and online in the summer of 2009, FITNESS TV will get viewers fit in an enjoyable, educational and affordable way with varied home grown and acquired content including workouts, biographies, documentaries and educational programming.
"We're here at MIPTV to discover content that truly delivers the energy and inspiration that our viewers need," said Clare Bramley, head of operations at FITNESS TV. "We're encouraging everyone to incorporate fitness and exercise into their daily life, regardless of age, culture or ability, and we're on the lookout for the perfect programming to enable us to achieve this vision. We are keen to meet with content owners and producers with the type of quality programming that we're looking for, but we're not interested in negative or sensational content like fad diets, unnatural supplements or cosmetic surgery."
Fitness TV is particularly interested in acquiring third party programming that covers areas such as:
- Healthy and active diet, nutrition & food programming
- Documentaries that could inspire an active and non-active audience such as athlete biographies, training stories for grass root sports, stories about people who have overcome health, fitness and weight loss challenges, extreme activity travelogues and sports science, including physiology
- Lifestyle, well being and factual entertainment programming such as fat busting and boot camp series.
The website, Fitness.TV, will complement the Sky channel, and will be the UK's first health and fitness online portal. It will provide a variety of activities, from news and reviews, an online community, an e-commerce portal, as well as on demand and WebTV versions of the TV channel.
