4 Tips for Great Health

Eating the ‘right’ foods will leave you feeling full of energy, youthful looking and radiant. But perhaps you don’t feel like this...

Never fear because these healthful tips will help you get started...

Love fruit and vegetables

There are many people who live off convenience processed foods – the trouble is these foods are devoid of nutrients. Further, such foods do not give anything to the body except lots of fat, salt and sugar. Love your body and gift it with nourishing fresh fruit and vegetables. Fruit and vegetables are highly alkalizing and provide the nutrients your body needs. You can get more than your five a day when you mix things up. Try making fresh fruit smoothies and sticking in some greens like spinach. Believe me, you won’t taste them at all! This is a great one for kids as well. You might also like to try either a banana or chocolate milkshake that you can make with non dairy milks such as coconut and almond. Next in line is the wonderful vegetable juice. Packed with vitamins, minerals and pyhtonutrients – it’s a wonderful way to start the day and to make you feel cleansed and bursting with energy.

Get sprouting

Clover, alfalfa, mustard, pea shoots, mung bean, chick peas, sunflower and buckwheat sprouts are little power houses of nutrition and are a wonderful addition to any salad. These are what you call living foods and living foods are the best for you because you are alive, so it makes sense to these eat foods on a regular basis. You can buy them, but it is much for fun and economical to grow your own.

Eat more green

When you think of salads, don’t just settle for lettuce, cucumber and tomatoes. Make a beautiful salad out of dark green leafy veggies such as watercress, rocket, chicory, spinach and kale. They are high in minerals and calcium plus they make a delicious green juice. Try juicing kale, spinach, apple, celery and fennel. Add a dash of lemon juice of an extra bit of zing.

Feeling nutty?

When ever nuts are promoted as healthy food, the immediate response is, but they are full of fat! Yes, they are but it is healthy fat. So whilst it’s not a good idea to go over board with nuts, a small handful each day or every other day will give you healthy fats, fibre, vitamins and minerals. Vary your selection to get an all round balance of nutrients. Nuts are great for snacking on as well. Choose from Brazil nuts, cashews, almond (the most alkalizing nut), pecans, walnuts, pine nuts or hazelnuts. Ensure you eat them naked as in no salt, sugar or vegetable oils.
