Davina Body Buff
''Davina just has to be the DVD workout queen.''

...And if you are a workout junkie and want to push yourself harder, then this is the right workout for you. The emphasis is definitely more on getting honed and toned than weight loss but that doesn’t mean you won’t be working out a sweat. You can mix and match the various sections in the cardio or boxing section, and it will be like working out to a whole new programme every time which always helps kick boredom to the curve. Add some weights to the equation and you can get the perfect arms to show off all your boxing moves.
To get your juices flowing, there is a 10 minute warm up. A bit lengthy I thought at first but in hindsight I needed it for what lay ahead of me. The 30 minute cardio was a bit of a killer but the kind that gives you the satisfaction that you really have been put through your paces. This section is about doubling up by working out your legs and arms at the same time. So in affect you get more of a workout for your time. The lifting of the legs up and across the body was one of my favourite moves as it helps to trim the tummy and waist.
The Buff boxing section was by far my favourite section of the workout. Clearly I’m biased because I’ve always been a fan of boxing and kicking type of classes. I like to think there is something of a boxer in me! The usual culprits like jabbing, hooks, upper cuts, and kicking were included as well as a few lunges and squats thrown in to keep the lower part of your body moving too.
But you’re not quite finished because after the cardio, it is time to ”buff your bits”. (Davina’s words not mine!). You start off with lunges but by the time you finish them you’re almost grateful for the squats which is something I never thought was possible. And then to completely finish you off, there’s a five or 10 minute abs section depending on your pain threshold! Lastly, comes the much needed stretch section followed by an even deeper yoga type stretch.
I have to say, the workout was positively energising even though it was tough at times. The banter between Davina and her trainers Marc and Jackie helped keep my mind off the time while the funky helped push me through the tougher sections of the workout. I thought was going to have a good workout with easy to follow routines, but instead I ended up having a fantastic workout with one buffing sweat!
