Air Snacks – What to eat during your journey abroad
Okay, you’ve worked hard for two months to get this bod, what you don’t want to do is throw it all away before you even get there by over-indulging on Airline food and feeling bloated for that first poolside entrance.
Here are some alternative ideas for snacks you can bring on board
- Water: Be sure to buy it after the security checkpoint to take onboard. Dehydration can cause or hunger, not to mention jet lag.
- Cereal: Special K and other cereal bars are portable, low-calorie choices.
- Fruit: Apples, pears, and grapes are durable, and almost any fruit can be stored in a container.
- Rice cakes such as Snack-a-Jacks are ideal.
- Energy bars: Although high in calories and fat, they are generally better, in moderation than a slice of pizza or a chocolate bar at the airport.
- Non-fat yogurt: Yogurt is a great portable snack (although it is perishable).
- Sandwiches: Pre-cut them into portion-controlled sections so you can pull them out at different times during the trip without making a mess. Chicken, turkey, and cheese on whole wheat bread are all great options for sandwiches on the go.
- Soy chips: These are yet another portable, low-cal, high-fibre snack.
Make sure to check with the Transportation Security Administration for the latest in-flight rules on bringing food and water.
