Scott finally puts the KettleWorx on
Fitness TV's product tester Scott Brant finally gets around to testing the workout product that has taken the States by storm!
We have had this product in the office for some time time now and after it hasbeen staring me in the face for a couple of months I reluctantly decided to crack it open and give it a go - I was pleasantly surprised by the workout I got and I am now totally hooked on these workouts!
As a typical bloke I can’t say I have done many exercise programmes like this before so I was a bit sceptical as to whether I would actually workout up a sweat, burn fat and tone up by staying in one spot for just 20 minutes. I couldn’t have been more wrong.
Firstly, there are various packages available when purchasing KettleWorx which determines which DVD’s you get with your package but I recommend you go for the KettleWorx Ultra Pack which includes:
- Introduction DVD
- Fast Fat Burn
- Cardio – 6 week Programme
- Fast Abs
- Core
- Resistance
- Arms & Shoulders
- Legs & Thighs
- Chest & Back
- But & Hips
- And a 5lb Kettlebell
The product aims to give you a body transformation in 6 weeks by doing just 3 20 minute workouts a week. There are so many variations you can do with this workout and so many results that you can achieve by using different sized kettlebells for example, but let me talk you through what I have been doing.
I lead with Week 1 of the 6 week ‘Cardio’ workout which is a 20 minute workout (not including warm-up and cool-down) designed to burn fat and really get the heart going – which it doesn’t fail to do! There are plenty of varied exercises that you can do with the kettlebell that keep the workout interesting throughout the 20 minutes and you really do work up one hell of a sweat.
I started with the 5lb Kettlebell and as a 15.5 stone bloke this kettlebell felt very light in my hand and again I wondered how much I was going to benefit from lifting this in my workouts – but as a beginner It was an ideal way to introduce me to the workouts as it allowed me to perfect the techniques of the exercises and by the end of the 20 minutes my arms were throbbing from the 5lb weight! A heavier kettlebell at that stage would have compromised my technique and really not benefited me at all.
I usually follow up my 20 minute ‘Cardio’ workout with one of the following toning workout DVD’s included in the pack:
- Fast Abs
- Core
- Resistance
- Arms & Shoulders
- Legs & Thighs
- Chest & Back
- But & Hips
Some of these workouts are just 10 minutes long but they are really intense and very effective and if you aren’t tired after just 10 minutes then why not mix-it up and do another one?
How you put together your workout is entirely up to you but rest assured there is enough content here to give you intense and varied workouts for months. The individual exercises are explained to you clearly and concisely by Ryan Shanahan the workout’s creator and although the dialogue can be a bit cheesy in places you rarely have time to dwell on this as you are soon on to the next exercise.
Variety really is the best feature of this product and you can mix and match workouts as much as you like. I am currently entering Week 3 of the programme and am happy with the results I am seeing. My body is firmer all over but now it’s time to up the ante go for the 10 or 15lb kettlebell.
I have become particularly fond of the KettleWorx workouts as the weather has got warmer as the gym can be hot and sticky right now - so I just whack on my sweats, stick the DVD on and fling the windows open in my house and get to it!
