But who is Lynn Murphy?
Following the birth of her 2 children and the inspiration of attending Active Birth Classes, Lynn trained with Janet Balaskas and colleagues, qualifying as an Active Birth Teacher for pre and postnatal yoga in 1997. She went on to co-manage and teach at the Active Birth Centre in North London. She now also teaches classes in her local Children’s centre, which she appreciates as a way of reaching a wider public and also enjoys working with clients on a 1-1 basis.
Lynn went onto train in baby massage and yoga with renowned expert Peter Walker, whom she worked alongside for a number of years, as well as further training with Birthlight. She continues to develop this area of her work imaginatively, especially as the babies teach her something new in every class.
She has been influenced by many approaches on her yoga journey, most significantly by the work of Vanda Scaravelli. Wonderful teachers along the way include Sandra Sabatini, John Stirk and Donna Farhi , as well as, less well known (but equally brilliant teachers) and is also constantly inspired by her students, as well as the challenges that life brings and time spent on her own mat.
Lynn is also a course tutor on the Active Birth Centre Teacher Training Course and has co developed the Postnatal yoga course, A training course in yoga and massage for babies is planned to follow.
Lynn’s original background was in the arts, which continues to feeds her creative approach. Her interest in holistic health began when she discovered yoga in her twenties developed further with the birth of her first child when she was looking for ways to parent more holistically in adrenalin fuelled London town!
Lynn lives in Archway, North London with her husband and now two grown up children and has enjoyed working locally with hundreds of women and their families since 1997.
