Laura tries... Water of the skinny variety

Now, I must confess, when I saw the shelves of my local supermarket laden with a curvy, blue bottle with the words 'SkinnyWater' on the label, I roared with laughter.

I mean, water has no calories in it, is refreshing to drink and does wonders for the human body, so why would you need skinny water?

I had to investigate.

Being a size 10/12 regular gym-goer who likes cake and eating it, I did feel rather odd taking it to the gym with me. It provoked a lot of attention, and fun conversations, which led onto discussions about what is inside this sexy little bottle, and more importantly, what does it do?

Well, quite simply, it's flavoured water with 'naturally enriched' minerals inside. So, what are they?

Chromium is known to enhance the action of insulin, a hormone critical to the metabolism and storage of carbohydrate, fat, and protein in the body. It also appears to be directly involved in carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism.

In short, L-Carnitine is made in the body, and essentially assists in turning fat into energy. Sounds good to me.

Both of these ingredients have 'fat and carbohydrate burning' qualities, so it doesn't appear to just be flavoured water after all. I can see why they have been added, but do they actually make a noticeable difference?

I decided to try it out, and to drink two 500ml bottles every day for two weeks to see what happened. I had two flavours, Pomegranate and Grapefruit. Pomegranate was my favourite although both taste just like sugar-free squashes. (I have just found out they are bringing out a SkinnyCola, which I can't wait to try!)

On the first week, I drank a whole bottle after each workout, which was usually 30 minutes of weights followed by a spinning class. I felt more refreshed than usual and full of energy, plus when it came to eating meals I didn't feel the need to put the usual amount of food on my plate. I also didn't crave my usual naughties, cola and chocolate - which was very odd for me.

By the end of the first week, I noticed my tummy was flatter, and my legs looked more toned.

By week two, I really felt a difference. My energy levels were increasing, I was sleeping really well and bouncing out of bed with tons of energy and I started to feel more confident about my curves.

At the end of my two-week challenge I really noticed a difference, inside and out. I do think that toning up isn't just down to drinking SkinnyWater. It stopped me craving naughty foods, replenished my body after a tough workout and I wasn't just drinking boring water. All these factors contributed to making me feel better, both physically and mentally.

Along with working out regularly and a healthy diet, I would recommend SkinnyWater. It goes to show how two tiny minerals can help to shape your body in an easy, convenient way.
